Women's sober living near Alhambra

Alhambra is where the justice side of the referral network sits. The courthouse and the probation area office are both within city limits, which makes it one of the few cities where a judge, a probation officer and a defendant are all in the same place. What the city does not have is a single DHCS-licensed treatment programme, or any sober housing.

Treatment and hospitals

Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, 100 South Raymond Avenue, carries 118 licensed beds, 8 emergency department treatment stations and 19,306 emergency visits in 2024, with no psychiatric beds (CHHS facility data).

One detail worth knowing, because the name misleads people: BHC Alhambra Hospital, the 97-bed psychiatric hospital, is not in Alhambra. It sits at 4619 Rosemead Boulevard in Rosemead (CHHS). Discharge planners looking for psychiatric beds in Alhambra are actually working with a facility in the next city.

There are zero DHCS-licensed or certified treatment programmes in Alhambra (DHCS licensed facilities). We provide housing only — no clinical care, no counselling, no case management.

Women's meetings

No women's AA meeting is listed inside Alhambra (LA Central Office; SGV Central Office). The nearest are San Marino — Women's Home At Last, Wednesdays 1:00 p.m., 2560 Huntington Drive, and Arcadia — Sober Sisters, Saturdays 10:00 a.m., 4165 East Live Oak Avenue (SGV Central Office; LA Central Office).

Some of the women we house are leaving an abusive home rather than a treatment bed. For them the housing question is the whole question — the practical alternative to a bed is often going back to the person she left.

We do not publish the address of the house. It is given only to accepted residents and to the agencies that refer them. And to be clear about what this is: Her Aria is not a licensed domestic violence shelter. We do not provide protective services, security services, legal advocacy, restraining order help or safety planning. Those stay with a woman's own advocate, attorney and law enforcement agency.

There is no DV shelter inside Alhambra. What Alhambra doesn't have

The CCAPP registry lists no recovery residence in the city, and there are zero network listings (CCAPP; Sober Living Network). A courthouse, a probation office, a hospital seeing nineteen thousand emergency patients a year, no treatment programmes and no sober beds.

Getting here from Alhambra

Alhambra's eastbound route runs through El Monte Station, where the Foothill Transit Silver Streak and Line 492 both continue to Montclair, and Line 480 runs West Covina to Montclair Transit Center (Foothill Transit). The Metro J Line and Lines 70 and 76 reach El Monte Station (Metro), and the Metrolink San Bernardino Line runs east from there (Metrolink).
