Women's sober living near Colton

Colton has something no other city in this county has: a 366-bed hospital with a 90-bed acute psychiatric unit, and the county's Mental Health Court operating out of the same address on North Pepper. Add the county's reentry substance use program a mile away, and Colton produces more women needing sober housing than almost anywhere in the region.

Treatment and hospitals

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, 400 N Pepper Avenue, (909) 580-6160, holds 366 beds with a Level II trauma centre and a 90-bed acute psychiatric unit reachable at (909) 580-1000 (CHHS facility data). Supervised Treatment After Release, 1330 E Cooley Drive, (909) 580-3705, is the county's reentry substance use programme (DHCS).

A woman leaving a psychiatric hold or a reentry programme with nowhere sober to go is the exact placement this house was built for. We provide housing, not treatment, and no clinical services of any kind.

Women's meetings

Happy Hour Big Book Study, Mondays 5:00 p.m., 1076 S Santo Antonio Drive (Inland Empire AA). It is not women-only; the nearest women's meetings are at the Arid Club in San Bernardino.

Residents choose their own recovery support programme, secular or faith-based. We do not designate one or hold meetings here.

Survivors of domestic violence

Some of the women we house are leaving an abusive home rather than a treatment bed. For them the housing question is the whole question — the practical alternative to a bed is often going back to the person she left.

We do not publish the address of the house. It is given only to accepted residents and to the agencies that refer them. And to be clear about what this is: Her Aria is not a licensed domestic violence shelter. We do not provide protective services, security services, legal advocacy, restraining order help or safety planning. Those stay with a woman's own advocate, attorney and law enforcement agency.

Colton has the District Attorney's victim services office inside Arrowhead Regional, (909) 580-1443 — one of the few places where hospital and victim services sit in the same building (SB County DA).

What Colton doesn't have

One certified residence and zero network listings (CCAPP; Sober Living Network), against a 90-bed psychiatric unit, a mental health court and a county reentry programme. The gap between what Colton discharges and what Colton houses is the widest in the county.
