Women's sober living near Fontana

Fontana is the second largest city in this part of the county and it has the referral infrastructure to match: Kaiser Fontana at 450 beds, its own district court, a probation day reporting center and a county welfare office. It has one certified recovery residence for all of it.

Treatment and hospitals

Kaiser Foundation Hospital Fontana, 9961 Sierra Avenue, (909) 302-7765, carries 450 licensed beds — the largest hospital in the western county (CHHS facility data). For outpatient substance use care, DBH Vista Community Counseling sits at 17053 E Foothill Boulevard, (909) 347-1300 (SB County Behavioral Health).

Women's meetings

Fontana has its own women's meeting: Women Doing the Work, Tuesdays 5:30 p.m., Relevant Church, 15375 Baseline Avenue Suite 6 (Inland Empire AA).

Residents choose their own recovery support program, secular or faith-based. We do not designate one or run meetings here.

Survivors of domestic violence

Some of the women we house are leaving an abusive home rather than a treatment bed. For them the housing question is the whole question — the practical alternative to a bed is often going back to the person she left.

We do not publish the address of the house. It is given only to accepted residents and to the agencies that refer them. And to be clear about what this is: Her Aria is not a licensed domestic violence shelter. We do not provide protective services, security services, legal advocacy, restraining order help or safety planning. Those stay with a woman's own advocate, attorney and law enforcement agency.

What Fontana doesn't have

One certified residence and zero network listings for 219,774 people (CCAPP; Sober Living Network). A discharge planner at Kaiser Fontana looking for a women's sober bed in her own city has essentially nothing to call.

Getting here from Fontana

Omnitrans runs the Foothill and Sierra corridors west toward the house, and Metrolink's San Bernardino Line stops in Fontana (Omnitrans). A woman without a car can hold a job and get to meetings from here.
