Montebello, California

Women's sober living near Montebello

Two six-bed detox programs that discharge women after days, not months — and nowhere for them to go next.

28 miles, about 35 minutes from the house · one monthly residency fee covering every utility, internet and laundry, with no deposit

Montebello has an unusual concentration of very small detox houses. Two licensed six-bed programs operate inside the city, both co-ed, both short-stay. A woman finishing a five-day detox is at her most fragile and has the least time to plan. That handoff is the single clearest referral this house exists to take.

Treatment and hospitals

Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello, 309 West Beverly Boulevard, is the city's only hospital: 192 licensed beds, 30 emergency department treatment stations and 17,222 emergency visits in 2024 (CHHS facility data).

Three DHCS programs operate here, and all three are referral partners rather than competitors. Ultimate Recovery Center, 1411 West Lincoln Avenue, (323) 902-5555, is a licensed six-bed residential detox. Monte Rehab, 1741 Loma Road, (323) 620-0321, is another licensed six-bed detox. Mela Counseling Services Center, 420 North Montebello Boulevard, Suite 100, (323) 721-6855, is certified outpatient (DHCS licensed facilities).

Twelve detox beds in a city with no recovery residence. We provide housing only — no clinical care, no counselling, no case management, and no detox.

Women's meetings

There is a women's meeting in the city: Women's Stag, Saturdays 2:30 p.m., 2518 West Beverly Boulevard (LA Central Office of AA). Whittier adds several more, including Step Sisters Women's, Tuesdays 6:30 p.m., 12336 Penn Street and a Women's Meeting, Sundays 2:00 p.m. at the same address (LA Central Office).

Residents pick their own recovery support program, secular or faith-based. We do not designate a program, require a particular meeting, or hold meetings at the house.

Survivors of domestic violence

Some of the women we house are leaving an abusive home rather than a treatment bed. For them the housing question is the whole question — the practical alternative to a bed is often going back to the person she left.

We do not publish the address of the house. It is given only to accepted residents and to the agencies that refer them. And to be clear about what this is: Her Aria is not a licensed domestic violence shelter. We do not provide protective services, security services, legal advocacy, restraining order help or safety planning. Those stay with a woman's own advocate, attorney and law enforcement agency.

More on housing for survivors of domestic violence, including who pays for it.

Montebello has the deepest DV network of any city in this group. The California Diversion Intervention Foundation runs a county-listed DV intervention programme at 819 West Whittier Boulevard, inside the city. The East Los Angeles Women's Center is at (323) 526-5819 with a 24-hour line at (800) 585-6231, and SAHARA, serving South Asian survivors, is at (562) 402-4132 (LA County DPSS). County-wide, the LA County DV Hotline is 1-800-978-3600 and the District Attorney's Bureau of Victim Services is (800) 380-3811 (LA County DA).

What Montebello doesn't have

The CCAPP registry lists no recovery residence in the city, and there are zero network listings (CCAPP; Sober Living Network). Twelve licensed detox beds, an outpatient programme, a 192-bed hospital and the strongest DV network in the area — with no sober housing behind any of it.

We are 35 minutes east: women only, gated, MAT welcome, one monthly fee, no deposit. Refer a client.

Getting here from Montebello

Foothill Transit Line 269 runs Shops at Montebello to El Monte Station, where the Silver Streak and Line 492 continue east to Montclair (Foothill Transit). Metro Lines 18 and 66 serve the Montebello Metrolink station and Lines 74 and 106 connect to Monterey Park (Metro), and the Metrolink San Bernardino Line runs the same eastward corridor (Metrolink).

Residents keep their own jobs, prescribers and court dates. Getting to them without a car is the test that matters.
