Women's sober living near Ontario

Ontario has the deepest Medi-Cal outpatient bench near the house — four county-contracted programs inside city limits. That matters more than distance: a woman placed here does not have to restart treatment to change where she sleeps.

Treatment and hospitals

Kaiser Foundation Hospital – Ontario, 2295 S. Vineyard Avenue, has 214 licensed beds; its emergency department is in building H, open 24 hours, information line 909-724-5000, and it accepts Medi-Cal Managed Care (HCAI, Kaiser Ontario). San Antonio Regional also runs Ontario Urgent Care at 970 N. Mountain Avenue, 909.579.6680 (San Antonio Regional). Neither lists inpatient psychiatric beds; those route to Canyon Ridge in Chino (HCAI). All four substance use programs below are in the county Drug Medi-Cal directory, all listed Medi-Cal: yes (county SUDRS directory).

Women's meetings

There is no women's AA meeting in Ontario. Every Ontario AA listing sits at Free Will Baptist Church, 810 E. Princeton Street, and none carries the women's designation (San Gabriel Valley & Pomona Valley Central Office). NA meets at 1311 W. Fifth Street — Dealers Choice Mondays 7:00 p.m., Recovery at Work Wednesdays 7:00 p.m. — both co-ed (Southern California Region NA directory).

The gender-separated option here is Celebrate Recovery: Mt. Zion Church of Ontario, 224 W. California Street, Tuesdays 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., which states plainly that it seats women with women and men with men (Mt. Zion). Community Christian Fellowship, 1791 E. Holt Boulevard, runs Wednesdays 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. (CCF Ontario).

Survivors of domestic violence

Some of the women we house are leaving an abusive home rather than a treatment bed. For them the housing question is the whole question — the practical alternative to a bed is often going back to the person she left.

We do not publish the address of the house. It is given only to accepted residents and to the agencies that refer them. And to be clear about what this is: Her Aria is not a licensed domestic violence shelter. We do not provide protective services, security services, legal advocacy, restraining order help or safety planning. Those stay with a woman's own advocate, attorney and law enforcement agency.

What Ontario doesn't have

Women-only beds. Two recovery residences are listed in Ontario, described as co-ed, with no price published (Recovery Housing Directory — Ontario). Four Medi-Cal outpatient programs discharge women into a city with no listed women-only bed inside its limits.

Getting here from Ontario

Omnitrans 290 runs express between Ontario Mills and Montclair Transit Center, seven round trips a day (Route 290). Omnitrans 84 connects Chino, Ontario and Upland and terminates at Montclair Transit Center (Route 84, Omnitrans routes). Route 61 covers Holt Boulevard but does not reach Montclair (Route 61). A single Omnitrans ride is $2.00 and a day pass is $6.00 (Omnitrans fares).
