Women's sober living near Walnut

We will be plainer about Walnut than about any other city we serve. It has almost no recovery infrastructure inside its borders — no hospital, no licensed programme, not even its own listing in the regional meeting directory. What it has is Mt. San Antonio College, two courthouses nearby, and a seventeen-minute drive to a bed. For a Walnut family, everything has to come from outside the city, and we are one of the closer options.

Treatment and hospitals

Walnut has no licensed hospital and no licensed treatment programme (CHHS facility data; DHCS licensed facilities). The two nearest hospitals are San Dimas Community Hospital, 1350 West Covina Boulevard, (909) 305-5616, at 101 licensed beds, and Kaiser Foundation Hospital Baldwin Park, 1011 Baldwin Park Boulevard, which recorded 66,562 emergency visits ending in discharge in 2024 — the busiest emergency department in any city we serve (CHHS).

That second number is the reason this page exists. A woman discharged from a Baldwin Park emergency room the same day, living in Walnut, with a substance use history and no stable place to go, has nothing in her own city to turn to.

We provide housing only — no clinical care, no counselling, no case management.

Women's meetings

Walnut is not listed as a region at all in the LA Central Office directory, and no women's meeting appears for it in the San Gabriel Valley directory (LA Central Office; SGV Central Office). The nearest are Pomona — WOW Women's, Wednesdays 6:30 p.m., Triangle Club, 1655 Berkeley Avenue, Covina — Women's Stag, Saturdays 10:00 a.m., 432 North Barranca Avenue, and La Puente — 12 Step Book Study, Saturdays 10:30 a.m., 15911 Main Street (SGV Central Office).

Residents pick their own recovery support program, secular or faith-based. We do not designate a program, require a particular meeting, or hold meetings at the house.

Survivors of domestic violence

Some of the women we house are leaving an abusive home rather than a treatment bed. For them the housing question is the whole question — the practical alternative to a bed is often going back to the person she left.

We do not publish the address of the house. It is given only to accepted residents and to the agencies that refer them. And to be clear about what this is: Her Aria is not a licensed domestic violence shelter. We do not provide protective services, security services, legal advocacy, restraining order help or safety planning. Those stay with a woman's own advocate, attorney and law enforcement agency.

There is no DV provider inside Walnut. What Walnut doesn't have

The CCAPP registry lists no certified residence in Walnut, and the Sober Living Network lists none (CCAPP; Sober Living Network). That is consistent with everything else about the city: the recovery infrastructure a Walnut resident uses is all somewhere else.

Mt. San Antonio College sits in Walnut and serves tens of thousands of students, which means young women in this city do have somewhere to build a life — they just do not have anywhere sober to live while they do it. We are seventeen minutes east: women only, gated, MAT welcome, one monthly fee, no deposit. Refer a client.

Getting here from Walnut

Foothill Transit Line 289 runs Pomona – Walnut – Puente Hills Mall and Line 295 serves the Mt. SAC campus in Walnut from San Dimas Station via Cal Poly Pomona. From Pomona, Line 197 runs to Montclair, Line 480 reaches Montclair Transit Center, and the Silver Streak runs the same corridor (Foothill Transit). The Metrolink San Bernardino Line connects Pomona-North and Covina to Montclair (Metrolink).

A student at Mt. SAC can keep her classes and still sleep somewhere sober. That is the placement this page is written for.
